You're not as safe as you think you are!

uk ambulance

5 miles from home and you're rushed to hospital problem is...

The hospital will NOT have your medical records! Unfortunately for me on December 6th 2008 I found this very real fact out the hard way.

I was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack and although conscious, due to my stress of the whole situation was unable to recite what medication I took regularly.

Let me stress this important fact again

The hospital will NOT have your medical records! Do not believe for a single moment this will be any different for you or any member of your family. This is why we are always asked what medication we take when admitted into hospital.

What if I was unconscious?

I was conscious and struggled to give the right medical information to the hospital staff. If I'd have been unconscious this would have been a much more serious situation!

"I see your point, but I'm fit and healthy!"

In an emergency situation, medicines will not be administered until your are fully identified. Administering treatment without patient knowledge can cause complications so identification is essential.

A solution was needed

In an ideal world we would carry our medical details with us. Unfortunately with identity theft so prevalent in todays society we are more cautious now than ever of what we carry with us.

mobile phone

Most of us have a mobile phone and this is what started me thinking.

A solution was needed that allows our personal data to be accessed immediately by emergency personnel but not have it available on our phone if it was lost or stolen!

And this is it...

My system is free for 12 months and allows a user to sign up online for the MobileMEDIC service. Once registered your personal data, a photo and the IMEI number of your mobile phone can be stored on our private database.

The IMEI number can be displayed on your mobile phone screen by keying in *#06# on your keypad. Alternatively it is also displayed under the battery of the handset.

If involved in an accident or emergency paramedics can check the IMEI number of your phone and identify you on our database, saving valuable time and lives!
